Question: Now that Desperate Housewives has set an end date, and Dana Delany is still employed by ABC, please tell me they’re going to figure out a way to bring Katherine Mayfair back at least one final time. She was by far the best thing to ever happen to the show after Season 1! —Anthony
Ausiello:
Delany wants it to happen. Showrunner Bob Daily wants it to happen. So my guess is it’ll happen. “She’s working like a mad woman on [ABC's] Body of Proof but I would love that,” Daily tells me. “We want this season to feel like a bookend, so we would love to bring back some familiar faces and tie up some loose ends — and God knows there are plenty of loose ends.”

If you follow us on twitter then you’ll know I asked about if you guys wanted BOP spoilers or not. Seeing as all the replies were positive, here they are! However, I’m only posting the ones regarding Dana’s character, Dr. Megan Hunt. Please note I gathered this myself and the only other place you’ll find them will be in our sister sites, at least with our permission.

Kathy in Bel Air, Calif.: Please tell me we’ll see Dana Delany back on Castle soon! She was so great in that dramatic role.
She was pretty darn spectacular, wasn’t she? And you’re not the only one begging for more Dana Delany. While nothing’s been decided yet, besides the fact that she’s working on another ABC pilot as we speak, Castle‘s Nathan Fillion is down for more D.D., too.  “She set this place on fire,” he tells us. “Those two episodes were huge! If she’s got some time in her busy schedule, we’d love to have her back! I’ve worked with her now three times! I’ve got the Dana Delany trifecta…not a lot of us can say that.” You lucky dog, you!

Question: Have we seen the last of Katherine on Desperate Housewives? —Carol

Ausiello:
For this season, yes. But if Dana Delany’s ABC pilot, Body of Evidence, fails to earn a pickup, she’ll most likely be back in the fall. “We’d love to have her back, but obviously for her sake, I hope her pilot goes,” says exec producer Bob Daily. “Marc [Cherry] has said that she has an open invitation to return next season if it doesn’t.”

Since we heard the pilot news, this is probably the happiest of all for me and many of you as well. Still, I remind everyone NO decission has been finally made about Dana being on the pilot or not. So don’t jump into conclusions.

News that ABC is looking to transfer Desperate Housewives’ Dana Delany to a new procedural next season would seem to suggest that her late-in-life-lesbian alter ego, Katherine, is headed straight off Wisteria Lane. But that may not necessarily be the case.

First off, Delany’s deal to join the cast of Body of Evidence is still not done. And second, even if the Emmy winner does sign on the dotted line, there’s no guarantee the pilot will become an actual series. “You never know with pilots,” Delany shrugs. “Many of them never get off the ground, so all this talk could be rendered [pointless]. But I am realistically hopeful. I love the [Evidence] character, so I hope it all works out.”

Delany’s ideal scenario has her headlining Evidence next season and making occasional guest appearances on Housewives. “[Series creator] Marc Cherry [promised] he would not kill me off and told me I was always welcome to come back to the Lane,” she says. “I would love for Katherine to pop into town and say hi to the gang every once in awhile.”

In the meantime, Delany remains focused on finishing out this season of Housewives. Does she think Katherine’s big gay awakening will stick? “This might actually be her thing,” she says. “It may make her happier than she has ever been. She does not have the best track record with men to begin with.”

Coincidentally, Delany’s current on-screen squeeze, Julie Benz, also landed an ABC pilot — the super-powered drama No Ordinary Family. For her part, Benz hopes the simultaneous bookings will result in a happy ending for Katherine and Robin. “I love the idea that those two may ride of into the sunset together.”

Dana Delany, co president of the Creative Coalition, arrives first and tells me that there are three upcoming deaths on Desperate Housewives, including a main character.

Who is it?

“It’s not me,” she adds.

Eva Longoria Parker arrives at 7:30 and dashes across the carpet—perhaps trying to avoid the frigid temps. When I run into her inside, she agrees to answer questions “as long as it’s not about lip gloss or diet.” She tells me she’s not getting killed off the show either, so Gabrielle fans can breathe easy.

“It’s not me, so that’s important!” she adds. She also tells me she’ll spend the holidays in Texas.

This is quite spoilery and I don’t like Dana/Katherine missing the fun out of this but as we know this will give Dana time to shoot her L&O episode. Still, not a happy camper myself but as long as we get a scene between Dana and Alana De La Garza then… I might be happier.

When Desperate Housewives jumped five years into the future last season, all the women held up remarkably well. In fact, some (Marcia Cross, I’m talking about you) look even younger this year. But they’ll be no escaping Father Time when the ABC series jumps 10, 20, as much as even 40 years into the future in early January to reveal what the women may have looked like had their lives gone in different directions.

Dana’s sharing teeny things again, and here we thought she was going to keep quiet this season. THANK YOU LADY DELANY FOR NOT KEEPING YOUR MOUTH SHUT! -dance-

A couple of weeks ago, it got out that there was going to be a big plane crash on Wisteria Lane. “Housewives” creator Marc Cherry confirmed the plot twist, but would not divulge who died.

“It’s going to be my cliffhanger for the first half of the season,” he said.

Well the cliff just got a little lower.

Fox411 asked Delany if there was anything she could reveal about the Housewives” storyline, to which she responded:

“This week we’re shooting a big plane crash on Wisteria Lane. My character has just been knifed and is in the hospital, so I avoid the plane crash.”

Okay, yeah, that’s a lot.

So for those keeping score: Katherine Mayfair lives! But she’s also been knifed.
