It’s been more than 20 years, but “Desperate Housewives” star Dana Delany still won’t spill about her date with Sen. John Kerry – a night so strange it could have happened on Wisteria Lane!

“Oh, it’s ancient history,” Dana demurred yesterday when we again tried to get her to give it up. “And it wasn’t really a bad date – it was just a good story.”

The Phillips Andover alum met Kerry, then a bachelor, at a veterans event in D.C. when she was starring in the Vietnam-themed TV drama “China Beach.”

he senator invited her to dinner then back to his apartment to see his “war films.” (Why, oh why, did Kerry bring a video camera to war, Dana wondered . . .) Apres screening, the senator attempted to, shall we say, storm “China Beach.”“We’re all friends,” Delany laughed. “I know his daughter, Alex . I supported him in 2004. People have such mouths!”

If Dana Delany is suddenly the busiest actress in Hollywood (or at least Wisteria Lane) you might blame it on her pal, “Castle” star Nathan Fillion.

Fillion, who played Delany’s husband on “Desperate Housewives,” drafted his former Emmy date Delaney to co-star as an FBI agent on “Castle.”  This appearance on the popular ABC show has only led to even more opportunities.

“I blame it all on Nathan,” Delany told Popcornbiz of the her two-part “Castle” turn which completes tonight and the life-changing gigs that that have followed.

First there was the “Castle” appearance. “He called me in December and asked me to come on,” she says. “I was surprised because I thought I already had a job.”

ABC was happy to have the “Desperate Housewives” star appear on “Castle.” as a guest.  “And when they saw the dailies from ‘Castle,’ they decided I’d be good in this new show we have,” says Delaney.

So now she’s shooting a pilot, “Body of Evidence” in Rhode Island where she plays a medical examiner. Her disappearance from “Desperate Housewives” has been explained by a trip to Paris.

If the “Evidence” pilot is picked up in May: “Then I’ll have a new job,” says Delany. “If not, I’ll be back in Wisteria Lane.”

Delany will join her “Desperate” castmates on April 7 for a “Child Hunger Ends Here” rally which she is organizing on the famous television set. The busiest star will be packing food bags for hungry kids and encouraging others to do the same.

“I’m a little busy these days,” she laughed. “I could actually use a little vacation.”

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A variety of different charitable organizations will be keeping a close eye on “Jeopardy” this season.

Over the course of the next 10 months, 27 former celebrity players will return and play for the biggest purse ever.

There’s a change however to the game this time around and the winnings are big.

“This is a year-long tournament and it’s going to take place over 9 months,” said Alex Trebeck, host of “Jeopardy”. “Each month, one celebrity game followed by a week of semi-finals and a 2-game final match for that million dollars.”

That million dollars is for the charity of each celebrity’s choice.

“And we’re bringing back celebrities that have played the game before so they know what to expect, they’re not as nervous, they’re going to perform a lot better,” said Trebek.

Wolf is playing for the American Cancer Society while Andy is playing for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and Dana playing for the Scleroderma Research Foundation.

Eyewitness news caught up with the players during a rehearsal for the big show.

“It’s fun but it’s nerve racking,” said Delany. “I remember the last time I played I think I lost 5 pounds. It’s really scary&I’m up against 2 braniacs. I’ve got Wolf Blitzer and Andy Richter. I think Andy Richter is one of the highest scoring players of all time.”

“Wolf is the one,” said Richter. “He’s actually the one who’s got to sort of thing on his feet now and then and know stuff about stuff whereas Dana and I just have to look beautiful.”

The first round of “Celebrity Jeopardy” airs Thursday evening at 7:00 on ABC7. Episodes will broadcast every third Thursday through May, culminating into the ultimate 2-day final rounds.

I couldn’t watch it, considering I’m in Europe, but for what Tori told me Dana didn’t win. But we still love her the same!
