It seems we finally have news about one of Dana’s movies, filmed back in 2007. It seems all those little movies she did in the past few years are getting now released, about time! And here’s the poster plus the press release of the premiere, next friday in Chicago.

DRUNKBOAT, CHICAGO, IL – Local film company Magnificent Mile Productions is pleased to debut its latest feature, DRUNKBOAT, in Chicago, the city where it was produced in conjunction with Left Bank Films.  DRUNKBOAT is a coming of age story written and directed by Bob Meyer and starring John Malkovich, John Goodman, Dana Delany and Jacob Zachar, and will make its international premiere at the Chicago International Film Festival. The World Premiere screening will take place October 8, 2010 at 8:00 PM at the festival.

The film takes viewers on an emotional journey as it tells the story of a young teenager, Abe (Jacob Zachar) who manipulates his unsuspecting alcoholic uncle (John Malkovich) to help him buy a boat (a Drunkboat) from a con man named Mr. Fletcher (John Goodman) when his mother Eileen (Dana Delany) is out of town. The story resonates with the struggle of Uncle Mort, making the story much deeper than a simple tale of a boy and his boat. Both the uncle and Abe come of age in the story.

Not only is the film premiering at the Chicago International Film Festival, it is also a contender in the International Feature Film Competition this year. The film also has ties to Chicago via John Malkovich, Bob Meyer, Jacob Zachar and several others among the cast and crew, making it a part of the Illinois(e)makers list, along with fellow Illinois(e)makers The Defiled, Go For It!, Louder Than a Bomb, Polish Bar and Tony & Janina’s American Wedding.

Several of the cast and crew will be in attendance at the festival and will be booking interviews. International distribution is being handled by 7 Arts Pictures. You can find out more about the film on the official site at http://drunkboat.com/, on the Facebook Page, on Twitter as @drunkboatmovie or by contacting either Leslie Poston or Amy Greenlaw of Film POP! at email drunkboat@filmpop.tv.

So here’s an article about the show, kind of confirming the date we gave a few days ago but also confusing us more as it seems ABC may reschedule the show, again, but this time they’ll move it from Fridays. Let’s see what happens in the end, boy doesn’t ABC like to play with us?

People familiar with Rhode Island sights will want to add a new television show to their list this year. “Body of Proof,” a new drama on ABC, has been filming in and around Providence since July, and will most likely premiere at the end of October, said Matthew Gross, an executive producer of the show.

The drama, which stars Dana Delany of “Desperate Housewives,” is about a workaholic Philadelphia neurosurgeon with plenty of personal problems who sustains a hand injury in a car accident. She can no longer operate on the living, but “she can operate on the dead,” said Gross, so she becomes a medical examiner. Each week, she and her fellow detectives will solve crimes, he added, but she will also be seeking personal redemption for her past. He said the show is in some ways a female version of “House,” though featuring a medical examiner.

The show is set in Philadelphia, but is filmed in Rhode Island. Shows are often filmed in cities other than where they take place, said Patrick Preblick, an ABC publicist for the show. Providence was one of “a number of places” where filming could have been possible, he said, and there were “terrific fiscal reasons” for choosing Rhode Island.

Gross said he calls Providence “Providelphia” for how well it has worked as a substitute for Philadelphia. The production was lured by what he called “incredible tax incentives” that helped bring down the bottom-line cost. Thanks to the “magic” of filmmaking, set extensions or computer generated images can be added to shots to make them look like they were filmed elsewhere, Gross said.

A pilot for “Body of Proof” was filmed in R.I. in April, and &- after the network ordered 12 more episodes in May &- production returned to the area in July, Preblick said.

Much of the filming took place in a production facility in nearby Warwick. The sets used images of the Philadelphia skyline in windows to help establish the location, Preblick said.

Other R.I. filming locations included Roger Williams Park, Iron Works Tavern in Warwick, Rhode Island College, Twist Restaurant in Warwick and Bold Point Park in East Providence, according to Preblick.

“If Rhode Islanders watch (the show), they’ll definitely see local spots in Rhode Island,” Preblick said.

While some scenes have been filmed in the areas around Brown, there has not been any filming on the campus proper, Gross said. “We would love to shoot on Brown locations,” he said, though it can be difficult for television shows to get approval from the University to shoot on campus.

Gross also pointed to the economic benefits of the show for the state. “We’ve spent a ton of money here,” Gross said. “We’re offering jobs and goods and services.”

Many cast and crew members and extras were drawn from the local talent pool, Preblick said, though he did not have exact figures on the number of jobs the show provides.

Being in Providence has its advantages for the actors, Delany &- the lead actress &- said at an ABC Press Tour event in August. “The great thing about being on location is it really makes the actors form a team because we’re all new in town. … So we’ve all been to the mall a lot together,” she said.

Providence is a “well-kept secret” in the filming world, Gross said. “It’s got a tremendous ability to double” for other cities, he said. The city encompasses many different looks and styles “within spitting distance,” he said. “We’ve had a great experience. I will shout it from the mountaintops.”

“Body of Proof” will continue to film the 12 episodes ordered by the network through December. If the network orders another nine episodes, the show will continue to film through April, Preblick said.

Currently, the network plans to air the show on Fridays at 9 p.m., with a premiere on Oct. 22, Gross said. But the network has been so pleased with the product that it is discussing moving “Body of Proof” to another night &- a move that could affect the date of the premiere, he said.

So my mother, who I guess I can already declare a Dana fan as well, found this article while I was still asleep. It’s in Spanish so I translated it, it’s very sarcastic but in a good way.

Dana Delany is, in Body of Proof, the medical examiner’s Anna Wintour. The way Megan Hunt, her character on the show, walks into her office in Philadelphia (that city so ungrateful as set, due to it’s perfetcness), are fit as Wintour’s in ‘The September Issue’ (fantastic documental, by the way), with her sunglasses like Jackie O, the Starbucks cup or her outfit. They only differ in the hair. The actitude is, in both cases, the same: superiority, depotism and extra-class. The medical examener’s a harpy, cold, but solves cases like nobody. And almost no one likes her.

After watching ‘Body Of Proof’s pilot, it’s quite obvious we’ll get hooked into Delany’s character, which isn’t that hard anyway, as she’s a know-it-all bitch and with resources (intelectual and money wise) as those are things we love. If not, ask Patty Hewes or Amanda Daniels (Carla Gugino in ‘Entourage). A good bitch sells, and more if she has a good heart, too. And the rule says a viper can only be the leading character of a show, needs to have, at least, a bit of goodness and, if they don’t, fill it with an impressive wickedness. That’s why Amanda Daniels (who is a poor fool in the end) isn’t the lead whereas Patty Hewes is.

Dana Delany’s Dr. Hunt fills the requiements to be ‘Body of Proof’s lead, a procedural like ‘CSI’ which will be lucky to air after ‘Rizzoli & Isles’ first season’s over. Those of you who have seen ‘R & I’ know why I say this. There’ll be comparations, obviously. Also between Delany and Mary McDonnell, as both seem to share the same face, as in using it in turns, like Marisa Paredes and Eusebio Poncela (yes, I also agree with the theory that says they’re the same person).

Above all, ‘Body of Proof’ is the umpteenth revision of a procedural with a really interesting lead, but with unorthodox methoods. Once again, we’re thankful those methods are at least scientific and arguable, and not ridiculous and supernatural. That’s just what was missing, a witch with the attitude of a caribbean dictator’s ex wife with powers. Then the world wouldn’t be enough, running away from her deathly bolts of lightning and her Max Mara’s sarcasm.

Dr Megan Hunt from Body Of Proof
ABC

Dana Delany has admitted that her new show Body Of Proof will be a “gamble”.

The actress explained that having the lead role in the series will be a change from her part on Desperate Housewives.

“It will be different,” Delany told TV Squad. “I have to say that Housewives is the easiest job in the world because there are so many great actresses on it, and you only work two or three days a week. It’s so well-produced, and this is a whole new gamble. I don’t know how it’s going to be.”

She added: “It’s going to be a whole new thing – new writers, new cast, new character.”

However, Delany explained that she enjoys playing a “complex” character in the series and revealed that the show focuses on people rather than plot.

“I think ABC always wanted to have a procedural because they’ve done so well for CBS,” she said. “Who would not want to have that? They think of themselves as more of a character network, more character-driven, so this one has a great character, and a lot of stuff is going to be motivated more by the character than the plot.”

Body Of Proof will premiere on ABC later this year.

Delany: ‘Body Of Proof scripts are hard’

Dana Delany has admitted that she finds it difficult to remember the medical terms on her new show Body Of Proof.

Speaking to AOL, Delany explained that she enjoys playing medical examiner Megan on the show.

“She’s a fun and very three-dimensional character,” she said. “She’s very driven, very smart, sardonic – kind of like a female House. She’s smarter than everyone else and she knows it, and she makes sure they know it too.”

However, Delany revealed that the hardest part about the show is remembering her lines.

“I heard from a doctor that when you go to medical school you have to learn about 10,000 new words,” she said. “Not only that, but the ones I’ve learned are so hard to say. I’m hoping I’ll get better at it.”

She added: “I have to say them really fast so it sounds like I know what I’m talking about. Apparently when George Clooney was in ER he would write the words on the bodies and I may end up having to do that myself.”

Body Of Proof will premiere on ABC later this year.

Dana Delany has revealed that she would love to create a musical version of Desperate Housewives.

Delany, who played Katherine in the show, explained that she has already pitched the concept to the programme’s creator Marc Cherry.

“The idea struck me when I was watching 8 Women because the film reminded me so much of Desperate Housewives,” she told the Sunday Mail. “So I sent a DVD of the film to Marc. He wasn’t interested but now, of course, the television series Glee has come along, which I love.”

Delany added that she wants Cherry to team up with his friend Stephen Sondheim to create the musical.

“Maybe Marc could even get Sondheim to write the music,” she said. “I’d love to do it, even though I’m not a great singer.”

I got nothing, Dana PLEASE do this. I’d LOVE to see everybody sing and SHE LOVES GLEE. She’s further cemented in my heart. <3

The world premiere of ABC Studios’ “Body of Proof” will open the fourth edition of the RomaFictionFest, organizers said Friday, also unveiling a guest list that includes actor Andy Garcia and ABC exec Barry Jossen.

The July 5-10 event, which focuses on television fiction, is held predominantly at the Auditorium Conciliazione and the Adriano Multiscreen Cinema, both near the Vatican.

LL Cool J was on hand for Friday’s announcement of the lineup. He stars as special agent Sam Hanna in “NCIS: Los Angeles,” and festival organizers said an unaired episode of the series will screen in Rome.

Several screenings of projected related to music are scheduled, including the John Lennon biopic “Lennon: Naked,” from Christopher Eccleston. Eccleston is a RomaFictionFest veteran: He won the event’s award for best actor three years ago for his role in “Perfect Parents,” and he will return to the Italian capital for the screening of the Lennon biopic. Other music-themed screenings include Uri Gellar’s “My Friend Michael Jackson; Uri’s Story,” and the Coldplay documentary “Viva Coldplay,” which will focus on the group’s 2009 tour of Japan, and “the Italian premiere of “Stones in Exile,” which was produced by Mick Jagger. The film premiered in Cannes this year.

The festival, which said it has increased attendance each year since its inception, attracted 40,000 fiction lovers in 2009.

No word about Dana attending yet but this is worth posting anyway.

Two years ago, our historic September 5, 2008 fundraising telecast brought all three major networks – CBS, ABC and NBC – together in an unprecedented collaboration. Today we are very excited to announce that we’re returning to primetime on September 10th to continue broadening public support for our mission of funding groundbreaking, collaborative cancer research. This morning, network evening news anchors Katie Couric, Diane Sawyer and Brian Williams appeared on CBS’ “The Early Show,” ABC’s “Good Morning America,” and NBC’s “Today Show” to talk about the upcoming telecast and the progress SU2C has made in the two years since our launch. Check out the clips below.

Source – it has clips of the announcement for those of you interested.

If you wonder why we’re posting this is simple:

1) If you check the right sidebar, it’s one of the orgs we support.

2) Also Dana supports this one, she was at the telecast 2 years ago (mamogram moment anyone?) and she’s one of the ambassadors/spokesperson.

So my guess is that Dana will be there this year again. And I’ve been thinking about buying one of the shirts for a long time, maybe now I do it.

I already claim the first victim and murder of the show: it’s timeslot. Usually shows airing on Friday, and even more if they’re new, go straight to hell. Sure there are exceptions like CSI as it started on Fridays at 10 pm (thanks to E for the reminder) or even Ghost Whisperer still airing on Fridays, but I just heard Friday and Dana show in the same sentence and I see it gone… Pasadena aired on Fridays at 8 pm. Sure different shows but nobody ever wants to be in that slot.

ABC

The Alphabet already has some bright spots in its lineup (its Wednesday comedy block, the one-two punch of Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters on Sunday night), but with the loss of Lost and the lack of any real strength in the 10 p.m. hour (Castle being perhaps the exception), its drama pickups will be scrutinized.

Three promising pilots have already been green-lit: No Ordinary Family, starring The Shield’s Michael Chiklis and Dexter’s Julie Benz as the heads of a family with special powers; Body of Proof, which borrows Housewives’ Dana Delany as a medical examiner; and Shonda Rhimes’ Off the Map, which is kind of like Grey’s Anatomy in the jungle.

Contrary to the official update, this was released yesterday:

The producers of “Desperate Housewives” will have quite a few homes to fill after the finale on Sunday, May 16 on ABC.

Susan (played by Teri Hatcher) is putting her house up for rent. Angie (played by Drea de Matteo) and her family are leaving. And, now, it seems another house may get a “for sale” sign. ABC has picked up Dana Delany’s pilot, “Body of Proof.”

When the news broke that Delany had signed on to a pilot, it seemed that she was looking for a new opportunity. Executive producer, Bob Daily, told Zap2it exclusively that as far as he knows, that wasn’t true.

“Actually, ABC approached her,” Daily tells us. “She actually went back and forth as to whether she should move on. I think she was having just so much fun on the show, but ABC really wanted her to do this pilot. And, listen, Dana’s great. She should be the lead in her own series and she has been before – an Emmy-winning lead in ['China Beach'].”

In fact, he says Delany had cold feet about leaving the successful series for a pilot that may or may not leave her unemployed in the end.

“I know that Dana came into us,” Daily explains. “And said, ‘I’m not sure I want to do this.’ That was when [creator Marc Cherry] said to her, ‘If it doesn’t work out, you’ll always have a place here. So, don’t let that cloud your decision.’ ”

Daily says that’s why they chose to keep her character Katherine’s storyline open-ended this season.

Well, Zap2it thinks that’s a no-brainer for the star.
