Fewer things are less forgiving than a New England winter. Luckily, the cast and crew of ‘Body of Proof’ are a bunch of champs — after the show’s previously announced fall premiere date was taken away, the cast and crew had to film the entire 13-episode first season in a very cold Rhode Island bubble.
TV Squad hit the Providence, Rhode Island set in December to find out what sets ‘Body of Proof,’ which now premieres Tues., March 29 at 10PM, apart from other procedural shows (think girl power!). The cast also talked about the joys of playing with blood and guts, and of course, working with the one and only Dana Delany.
The former “Desperate Housewives” actress tears into a part that seems absolutely catered to her, writes Tim Goodman.
It’s not too difficult to see why everybody wants to create a star vehicle for Dana Delany. She’s had crazy screen presence since most people met her on China Beach. And if anything, it has only grown more intense as she’s aged.
That’s why such shows as Pasadena (2001) and Presidio Med (2002) were looking to tap into her charms. They didn’t work out, and so followed a string of cameos and TV movies and finally the too-perfect casting on ABC’s Desperate Housewives. But she could eat that suburban street for lunch.
Which might be why she tears into the starring role on ABC’s Body of Proof with abandon. This series seems absolutely catered to her — all the way up to the title. Delany turned 55 in March and is clearly still getting it done in the sexy department. She storms into Proof with that sexuality not only in high gear (in one of the opening shots, the camera lingers on her legs as she gets out of the car) but also supported by a combination of icy and sassy that sets up an almost-mythical character.
Body of proof, mind of steel. It’s like her new series is a music video — flowing hair, flirty winks, boots that were made for walking, serious costume changes — all of which ends with her saying, “How ya like me now?”
[Cut for spoilers]
I just read this press release from ABC and I’m still shocked/surprised. But hey it’s somewhat funny considering the episode will follow a new one from Desperate Housewives.

Dr. Megan Hunt (Dana Delany) was in a class of her own, a brilliant neurosurgeon at the top of her game. Her world is turned upside down when a devastating car accident puts an end to her time in the operating room. Megan resumes her career as a medical examiner determined to solve the puzzle of who or what killed the victims. Megan’s instincts are sharp, but she’s developed a reputation for graying the lines of where her job ends and where the police department’s begins. It turns out her career isn’t the only thing that will need to be rebuilt; Megan’s family has taken a backseat to her ambition, and now she’ll discover there’s a lot of work to do when it comes to dissecting her relationships with the living.

That’s the slot currently occupied by Detroit 1-8-7 which will end its run after 18 episodes and will air following the Dancing With the Stars results show. Detroit has been pretty modestly rated and seems like a long-shot for a second season.
I just got an email alert, in Spanish and as the good co-webmiss I am, I’m translating the article for everyone.
The show Body Of Proof will premiere in Spain before it does in US
The procedural show Body Of Proof will premiere in Spain earlier than US, to be exact on Fox and Cuatro, starting in January, ABC’s latest production starring Dana Delany.
‘Body Of Proof gathered a lot of enthusiam since it’s pilot screening during the LA Screenings 2010, and, as a response to our clients, we’re delighted to provide the show earlier to the eager viewers outside U.S’ Catherine Powell, Disney’s SVP/GM Media Distribution, declared in a statement.
The show tells the story of Megan Hunt, who after a car crash ends her career as a reknown neurosurgeon and starts to work as a medical examiner which will make her investigate the cause of death in all cases asigned to her.
And I just found this article about this as well.
ABC’s new series Body Of Proof will air in some European countries before the US.
The show stars Dana Delany as a neurosurgeon who becomes a medical examiner after a car accident.
The Walt Disney Company has now announced that the series will premiere in Italy, Spain and Hungary from January and February. The programme will then launch in the US later in the season.
Other early international launches are also expected, although details of which countries will be involved have not yet been revealed.
Catherine Powell from The Walt Disney Company said: “Body Of Proof has generated buzz from the pilot stage and, in response to client demand, we’re pleased to be bringing it to international viewers so early.”
The crime channel Alibi has picked up Body Of Proof in the UK but it is not yet known when it will air.
Dana’s not named anywhere here but thought I should post it considering it includes both Wild Palms and Battlestar Galactica – okay, Dana was just in an episode but still counts the same.
Science fiction has been a regular fixture on television since the early days of the medium itself. In the US, kid-orientated space shows like Captain Video and his Video Rangers (1949-1955) and Space Patrol (1950) swiftly amassed a cult following, while Britain was treated to the altogether more grown-up The Quatermass Experiment in 1953.

7) Battlestar Galactica (2004-09)
Ron Moore reworked the original lighthearted space opera into a fascinating, serious drama that attracted plenty of viewers who “don’t do sci-fi”. Top-notch effects, a cast of evolving, multi-faceted characters, and storylines that were stuffed with shocks and intriguing moral dilemmas… Put simply, it was frakkin’ great!
97) Wild Palms (1993)
Some interesting names were involved in this six-hour mini-series: Oliver Stone produced and co-scripted; episodes were directed by Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker) and Phil Joanou (U2: Rattle and Hum); and the cast included James Belushi, Kim Cattrall and Robert Loggia. The story itself is a complex futuristic mystery about an attorney sucked into a world of VR and politics. Watch out for a cameo by godfather of Cyberpunk William Gibson as himself.
There’s a quote on this article that set me off a little, the religious one, but that’s just me.
When it came to researching her upcoming role as a neurosurgeon-turned-medical examiner, Dana Delany wasn’t afraid of getting hands-on – literally.
“I got to hold a brain in my hands,” Delany said of her visit to the coroner’s office to prep for ABC’s midseason series “Body of Proof.” “It was very heavy – it’s three pounds. The coolest thing to me was the pituitary gland is underneath the brain and it’s boxed in this bone box that God or whoever designed, this beautiful little bone jewel case, and the pituitary is like the jewel of the crown and it wraps everything. It’s safely nestled in this little box of bone underneath the brain. It’s beautiful, really beautiful.”
Perhaps due to her experience playing a Vietnam-era nurse on “China Beach” or all the skullduggery surrounding her on “Desperate Housewives,” Delany admitted that she wasn’t squeamish while cavorting with real-life cadavers.
“I really wasn’t,” she said. “I got nervous because people told me I should be nervous, but once I saw it I loved it. I could’ve been there for hours. I didn’t want it to end, and in fact I want to go see another one right away.”
“I like medical stuff, “ Delany said. “I think that’s going to be the most fun part of the job for me, learning about all the medical stuff. It really is a miracle. I really don’t know how you can’t become religious after seeing an autopsy.”
ABC’s planning a major promotional for “Body of Proof” at midseason. The series stars Delany as Dr. Megan Hunt, a brilliant neurosurgeon who radically rethinks her life and career.
“She’s someone who’s been driven her whole life by work and is now realizing that that’s not everything, that she needs to find more balance in her life,” Delany explained. “I see her as Charon, the guy who carried the bodies across the river Styx. She sees that as honoring these people and what their lives were, and letting them go with dignity.”
It seems we finally have news about one of Dana’s movies, filmed back in 2007. It seems all those little movies she did in the past few years are getting now released, about time! And here’s the poster plus the press release of the premiere, next friday in Chicago.
DRUNKBOAT, CHICAGO, IL – Local film company Magnificent Mile Productions is pleased to debut its latest feature, DRUNKBOAT, in Chicago, the city where it was produced in conjunction with Left Bank Films. DRUNKBOAT is a coming of age story written and directed by Bob Meyer and starring John Malkovich, John Goodman, Dana Delany and Jacob Zachar, and will make its international premiere at the Chicago International Film Festival. The World Premiere screening will take place October 8, 2010 at 8:00 PM at the festival.
The film takes viewers on an emotional journey as it tells the story of a young teenager, Abe (Jacob Zachar) who manipulates his unsuspecting alcoholic uncle (John Malkovich) to help him buy a boat (a Drunkboat) from a con man named Mr. Fletcher (John Goodman) when his mother Eileen (Dana Delany) is out of town. The story resonates with the struggle of Uncle Mort, making the story much deeper than a simple tale of a boy and his boat. Both the uncle and Abe come of age in the story.
Not only is the film premiering at the Chicago International Film Festival, it is also a contender in the International Feature Film Competition this year. The film also has ties to Chicago via John Malkovich, Bob Meyer, Jacob Zachar and several others among the cast and crew, making it a part of the Illinois(e)makers list, along with fellow Illinois(e)makers The Defiled, Go For It!, Louder Than a Bomb, Polish Bar and Tony & Janina’s American Wedding.
Several of the cast and crew will be in attendance at the festival and will be booking interviews. International distribution is being handled by 7 Arts Pictures. You can find out more about the film on the official site at http://drunkboat.com/, on the Facebook Page, on Twitter as @drunkboatmovie or by contacting either Leslie Poston or Amy Greenlaw of Film POP! at email drunkboat@filmpop.tv.
