ABC
Dana Delany has admitted that her new show Body Of Proof will be a “gamble”.
The actress explained that having the lead role in the series will be a change from her part on Desperate Housewives.
“It will be different,” Delany told TV Squad. “I have to say that Housewives is the easiest job in the world because there are so many great actresses on it, and you only work two or three days a week. It’s so well-produced, and this is a whole new gamble. I don’t know how it’s going to be.”
She added: “It’s going to be a whole new thing – new writers, new cast, new character.”
However, Delany explained that she enjoys playing a “complex” character in the series and revealed that the show focuses on people rather than plot.
“I think ABC always wanted to have a procedural because they’ve done so well for CBS,” she said. “Who would not want to have that? They think of themselves as more of a character network, more character-driven, so this one has a great character, and a lot of stuff is going to be motivated more by the character than the plot.”
Body Of Proof will premiere on ABC later this year.
Delany: ‘Body Of Proof scripts are hard’
Dana Delany has admitted that she finds it difficult to remember the medical terms on her new show Body Of Proof.
Speaking to AOL, Delany explained that she enjoys playing medical examiner Megan on the show.
“She’s a fun and very three-dimensional character,” she said. “She’s very driven, very smart, sardonic – kind of like a female House. She’s smarter than everyone else and she knows it, and she makes sure they know it too.”
However, Delany revealed that the hardest part about the show is remembering her lines.
“I heard from a doctor that when you go to medical school you have to learn about 10,000 new words,” she said. “Not only that, but the ones I’ve learned are so hard to say. I’m hoping I’ll get better at it.”
She added: “I have to say them really fast so it sounds like I know what I’m talking about. Apparently when George Clooney was in ER he would write the words on the bodies and I may end up having to do that myself.”
Body Of Proof will premiere on ABC later this year.
