So my mother, who I guess I can already declare a Dana fan as well, found this article while I was still asleep. It’s in Spanish so I translated it, it’s very sarcastic but in a good way.

Dana Delany is, in Body of Proof, the medical examiner’s Anna Wintour. The way Megan Hunt, her character on the show, walks into her office in Philadelphia (that city so ungrateful as set, due to it’s perfetcness), are fit as Wintour’s in ‘The September Issue’ (fantastic documental, by the way), with her sunglasses like Jackie O, the Starbucks cup or her outfit. They only differ in the hair. The actitude is, in both cases, the same: superiority, depotism and extra-class. The medical examener’s a harpy, cold, but solves cases like nobody. And almost no one likes her.

After watching ‘Body Of Proof’s pilot, it’s quite obvious we’ll get hooked into Delany’s character, which isn’t that hard anyway, as she’s a know-it-all bitch and with resources (intelectual and money wise) as those are things we love. If not, ask Patty Hewes or Amanda Daniels (Carla Gugino in ‘Entourage). A good bitch sells, and more if she has a good heart, too. And the rule says a viper can only be the leading character of a show, needs to have, at least, a bit of goodness and, if they don’t, fill it with an impressive wickedness. That’s why Amanda Daniels (who is a poor fool in the end) isn’t the lead whereas Patty Hewes is.

Dana Delany’s Dr. Hunt fills the requiements to be ‘Body of Proof’s lead, a procedural like ‘CSI’ which will be lucky to air after ‘Rizzoli & Isles’ first season’s over. Those of you who have seen ‘R & I’ know why I say this. There’ll be comparations, obviously. Also between Delany and Mary McDonnell, as both seem to share the same face, as in using it in turns, like Marisa Paredes and Eusebio Poncela (yes, I also agree with the theory that says they’re the same person).

Above all, ‘Body of Proof’ is the umpteenth revision of a procedural with a really interesting lead, but with unorthodox methoods. Once again, we’re thankful those methods are at least scientific and arguable, and not ridiculous and supernatural. That’s just what was missing, a witch with the attitude of a caribbean dictator’s ex wife with powers. Then the world wouldn’t be enough, running away from her deathly bolts of lightning and her Max Mara’s sarcasm.

Dana Delany and Jeri Ryan, Body of Proof

While we’re going to miss Delany as Bree’s clone-turned-colleague Katherine on Desperate Housewives, and learn to do without Ryan as Leverage‘s ball-busting con artist Tara, they’ll both be back as crime-solving medical examiners in ABC’s Body of Proof.

I just added more photos to both albums, so enjoy!

Only new because it’s never been around before, yet we should consider it was taken back in 2001. We don’t always get to see Dana doing yoga, plus the white outfit? Same she wore to the 2002 InStyle & New Line Golden Globes after parties.

Who knew we’d be getting them before the show airs, right? And even before we get new promos later this month. Now, they overdid the airbrushing way too much.

And we continue updating the gallery with what seems to be the arrivals to the BOP panel.

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — Dana Delany moves from “Desperate Housewives” to her own series, “Body of Proof,” playing a testy medical examiner who used to be a neurosurgeon until an accident left her unable to operate.Delany said the role hearkens back to her days on “China Beach,” one of my all-time favorite series. Read how the roles are similar after the jump. …

Delany’s Colleen McMurphy on “China Beach” could be a little bit prickly, though she was a softy underneath. In the “Body of Proof” pilot viewers get a glimpse of the softer side of Dr. Megan Hunt when she’s reflecting on her failure as a mother/wife.

“This character feels very close to me,” Delany said. “You all know how I like to play complicated characters. There’s a whole range of things to be played there. … She’s complicated, smart, definitely complex.”

In addition, Delany had a Hunt-like experience.

“I was hit by a bus two weeks before we started filming and broke two fingers and my car was totaled, exactly like the character in the pilot,” she said.  It happened in Santa Monica, Calif., at 8:30 a.m. when she was making a left-hand turn on a yellow light. ‘The irony is when I got out of the car, the bus driver said to me, ‘I know who you are. Can I have your autograph?’”

Delany said she was declared at fault: “Something we should all know is when the light is yellow it’s a free-for-all and it was my fault. If I’d turned in a red light, it would not have been my fault.”

Producer Matthew Gross promised “Body of Proof,” which had a generic pilot that presented a Hunt so strident she was off-putting, would be a new take on the medical examiner.

“This is not your father’s Quincy,” he said.

“But I do look a lot like Jack Klugman,” Delany added jokingly.

Well, here’s a tidbit we didn’t expect: How did Dana Delany become the star of ABC’s new character-centric procedural, “Body of Proof”?

“I blame it all on Nathan Fillion,” Delany told the press during a panel session for the new fall series Sunday at the Beverly Hilton.  It turns out Fillion, a good friend, begged her to appear on his hit ABC show “Castle,” and working on those two episodes made ABC’s top brass think she’d be perfect for the role of Dr. Megan Hunt, a neurosurgeon-turned-medical-examiner whose personal life is in chaos.

Another thing we didn’t expect: This year, Delany was in a car accident very similar to the one her character is in. In the show, the accident renders her character unable to operate anymore.

Delany said she was driving in Santa Monica early in the morning one day when a bus hit her car on the passenger side as she was making a left turn. Her car was totaled and she was “lucky to be alive,” she said.

“The irony was when I got out of the car, the driver said, ‘I know who you are. Can I have your autograph?’” Delany said.

Umm, we don’t know if we’d call that irony. Sheesh.

Delany said she opted to take this job and leave “Desperate Housewives” because she loved how complicated and smart her character was, comparing it favorably to her “China Beach” character.

“She feels very close to me,” she said.
