Sooner than usual because I’m about to go to sleep, I can’t watch the episode – again – until tomorrow anyway.
DANA DELANY TO GUEST STAR IN TWO EPISODES OF “CASTLE,” BEGINNING SUNDAY, MARCH 21 ON ABC
Reunites With Nathan Fillion from Time on “Desperate Housewives”
“Tick, Tick, Tick…” — Actress Dana Delany (“Desperate Housewives”) will guest star in two episodes of “Castle,” beginning SUNDAY, MARCH 21 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET), with the second episode (entitled “Boom!,” airing 10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on Monday, March 22 on ABC.
In the special two-part storyline, Delany plays Federal Agent Jordan Shaw, an insightful and accomplished Federal investigator who teams up with Castle & Beckett to hunt down a cunning and elusive serial killer. This will reunite her and Nathan Fillion, who played Dr. Adam Mayfair, the younger husband of Katherine Mayfair (Delany) on “Desperate Housewives.”
Can you believe it? Yet another article/interview today. Aren’t we on a roll?
Chances are if you’ve tuned into ABC recently, you’ve seen a good deal of Dana Delany.
Not only is Delany a regular on “Desperate Housewives,” but she is the special guest star of the much hyped two-episode “Castle” event, which kicks off Monday (March 22). And, as if that isn’t enough, she’s also headlining the new ABC pilot “Body of Evidence.”
Korbi TV scored some time with Delany to talk about “Castle,” “Housewives,” her friendship with Nathan Fillion and her new show…
You’re ABC’s MVP at the moment, they have you everywhere!
Dana Delany: [laughs] I know! It’s kind of funny. It all sort of happened by accident. Was ABC the one who sought you out for “Castle” or was it Nathan?
DD: I sort of blame Nathan for the whole thing. He got the [the ball] rolling because he called me in December and said, ‘There’s this two-part character coming up and would you consider doing it?’ And I said, ‘I think I already have a job, don’t I?’ And then the next thing I heard, ABC thought it was a good idea, so I said ‘okay.’ So I was shooting both “Castle” and “Housewives” at the same time — while I was fighting the flu. That was not easy. And then what I think happened was ABC saw the “Castle” dailies and thought, well, maybe Dana would be good for this pilot? So Nathan was the instigator of everything. If “Body of Evidence” goes to series, you’re going to need to buy him something pretty.
DD: Definitely. We’ll definitely need a night out together to celebrate. But first, we need to celebrate your appearances on “Castle.” Had you seen the show before Nathan called about the guest arc?
DD: Yeah, I knew what it was. I watch Nathan in anything he does. And also, I’m a big fan of mystery books, so I like the whole thing they’ve got going there.
Believe it or not, VERY Dana related, as much as her own words around the article.
Monday’s explosive Castle puts Detective Kate Beckett in serious danger, but is her biggest threat a visiting agent from the FBI?
When a serial killer begins leaving notes at crime scenes for Nikki Heat — the fictional detective Castle (Nathan Fillion) based on Beckett (Stana Katic) in his new book — the FBI’s Jordan Shaw (guest star Dana Delany) shows up in New York.
“She comes along and basically sweeps that case out of Beckett’s hands,” Katic tells TVGuide.com. “That’s kind of strange for Beckett to deal with. She’s used to being the one in charge of any case.”
Shaw and her team show up with loads of technology, and the shiny new toys catch Castle’s eye. Though Shaw initially dismisses Castle, she soon learns his value. “At first she thinks he’s just this puppy dog following Beckett around, but then she realizes he does have a brain too,” Delany says.
The episode serves as a reunion for Delany and Fillion, who played lovers in the short-lived Fox series Pasadena, and husband and wife on Desperate Housewives. The duo’s chemistry translates to nice conflict: Impressed by Shaw’s résumé and commanding presence in the precinct, Castle tells Beckett that Shaw is the “FBI you,” causing a little bit of jealousy.
But Delany thinks Shaw represents far more to Beckett than a nemesis. “I think Jordan Shaw serves as kind of a ghost of Christmas future for Beckett,” Delany says. “She sees you can be kick-ass in your job and also be married and have a child — you don’t have to give up romance just to do your job.”
Indeed, Castle and Beckett’s back-and-forth romantic tension is turned up a notch when Castle spends the night at Beckett’s apartment — to protect her, of course. But Delany thinks the sleepover may lead to something less innocent.
“It’s what people love about Castle,” Delany says. “You have a great plot line in terms of the serial killer, but you also have the banter between Castle and Beckett. In the course of the drama, they become closer and more intimate. It advances their romance along.”
The episode ends with a doozy of a cliff-hanger, which leaves Beckett’s hanging life in the balance and promises more of Delany’s character in next week’s conclusion.
“Jordan Shaw is not done with the case yet,” Delany says. “If people watch carefully, they will see clues to who the real serial killer is.”
Part 1 of Castle‘s special TV event airs Monday at 10/9c on ABC.
Dana Delany may have left Wisteria Lane last night, but she still hopes to call ABC home. Some 24 hours after ‘Desperate Housewives’ Katherine Mayfair skipped off to Paris with gal pal April in tow, Delany makes her debut on ‘Castle’ (Mondays at 10/9c), playing an FBI agent who rubs Beckett the wrong way as she helps suss out a serial killer fixated on Nick’s new novel.
Delany gave Fancast the scoop on her ‘Housewives’ future, revealed the lesson she hopes to teach Beckett over the course of ‘Castle’s two-part mystery, and shed light on the other crime solver she’s playing in the ABC pilot ‘Body of Evidence.’
So, did we see ‘Desperate Housewives’ Katherine ride off into the Sapphic sunset last night?
[Laughs] You’re the only person besides me that says that; I like that! Yes, she’s off to “gay Paree.” Right now I’m in Providence, Rhode Island, filming this pilot for ABC, so it’s all sort of up in the air. If the pilot gets picked up, that’d be great. If it doesn’t, hopefully I’ll be invited to “come back” from Paris. But as far as this season of ‘Housewives,’ you’re done? We’ve seen the last of you?
Who knows? That’s the great thing about ['Housewives' creator] Marc Cherry and television; you can do things at the last minute. But what about poor Nathan Fillion? He told Zap2It he was hoping to check in on his former ‘Housewives’ wife and maybe have some three-way action.
Yeah, well – too bad! And he’s not going to get any of that on ‘Castle.’Why do you think it is that ‘Housewives’ always has trouble making any fifth housewife stick?
I think that there’s a certain structure, almost like a Greek structure to the writing, where you have these four women. And if you do have a fifth housewife, she has to sort of always circle around the other women and cause trouble for them. It works, and I don’t think they want to mess with that. Now you’re fighting crime as ‘Castle’s Jordan Shaw. Why is she so rigid?
That’s just her job. She’s there as an example to show Beckett that you actually can have it all. You can be a kick-ass agent, and you can be married and have a kid…. Beckett doesn’t have to shy away from romance. So even though Shaw rides Beckett pretty hard, she’s there to serve some greater purpose.
Yes, exactly. Is Shaw at all susceptible to Castle’s charms? I thought I saw a moment in Part 1 where she’s warming up to him…
Any chemistry between Shaw and Castle is just me and Nathan, our friendship coming through. [Laughs]Will we learn more about Shaw in Part 2?
Just that she has a husband who’s very supportive, and she relies on him. It’s interesting because the pilot that I’m shooting now is the opposite, which I think is a little more realistic. When a woman works as many hours as Jordan Shaw does or the character I’m playing [on 'Body of Evidence'], it takes a toll on a marriage.I was wondering if this ‘Castle’ role was almost an “audition” of sorts, to see how you played a crime solver before ABC went to you with ‘Body of Evidence.’
I think it was an audition that nobody knew was happening. It was one of those odd synergistic things where ABC saw the dailies from ‘Castle’ and went, “Oh, we may have found our actor.”Shaw brings with her some snazzy tech toys. How went your introduction to “smart board” acting”?
I’ve always liked watching John King do that on CNN, so I was very excited! I was like, “This is my chance to do it!”But he’s actually doing it. You’re just dragging your finger across a sheet of blank glass, until they drop the visual effects in.
Yes, I’m faking it. But acting is all faking anyway!
Remeber to tune in to watch the first episode of the two parter tonight! We’ll make a reminder post, like with the DH episodes. And now Tori may kill me but I have to say, we both have seen a screener and the episode is really good and it will leave you wanting for more at the end of it. And we need those damn special effects, the ones for the sheet of a blank glass! They were still off when we watched it.
ANGIE’S EX IS REVEALED, ON ABC’S “DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES”
John Barrowman (“Torchwood”) and Julie Benz (“Dexter”) Guest Star
“My Two Young Men” – John Barrowman makes his way to Wisteria Lane on ABC’s “Desperate Housewives,” SUNDAY, MARCH 21 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET). Angie’s ex-boyfriend, Patrick (Barrowman), emerges after her trip to New York. Meanwhile it’s game on between Gaby and Susan, as they go to shameless lengths to top each other’s kids; Lynette believes there’s more to Preston’s fiancé than she’s letting on; Bree invites Sam over for a family dinner; and Katherine comes out of the closet.
Tori added the More April issue scans, that were sent to us yet as soon as I get the magazine I’ll try to make them in better quality. And I added the Tv Guide scans from this week’s issue. They have the Deseperatefans.org watermark as one of our members, Paul, scanned it for us and as DFO is one of our family sites we add them here. So don’t panic for seeing the tag in there
I’m going to repeat myself but… Dana doesn’t age, at all. I’ll be happy looking half as good as her when I’m her age, now we’ll need the real secret to come out. But until then, let’s keep ourselves entertained with some photos! Some are from when she was a little girl until… Well now! I love way too much the one with the hat.
She’s neither desperate nor a housewife, and that’s just the way she likes it. Dana Delany sounds off about her single status, why lovemaking gets livelier after 50 and the male star who’s her surprising role model.
No conversation with Dana Delany is dull, writes Amy Wallace in MORE’s April 2010 cover story (on newsstands March 23). During the time Wallace spent at the star’s home in West Los Angeles, the conversation ranged from menopause to swimming with dolphins to why Delany admires George Clooney.
“It might sound funny, but I wouldn’t mind being the female version of him,” Delany says, explaining that she doesn’t know Clooney, really, unless you count the time 23 years ago when he was on The Facts of Life and Delany was doing a sitcom called Sweet Surrender and they shared a makeup room. “I wish we shared a dressing room!” she jokes. “I can’t honestly say I know him, but I’ve watched him from afar, and I really admire what he does.”
It is clear, as she ticks off Clooney’s charitable works, his savvy acting choices, his reputation for being a great, loyal friend and, yes, the fact that “he honestly says, ‘I’m not getting married. It doesn’t interest me,’?” that this perpetually single, politically active Emmy-winning actress has thought through the Delany/Clooney comparison. She has also thought about how it will sound.
“I know—people are going to say, ‘Oh, she wants to be a playgirl,’?” she says. “But that’s not what I mean. I like him because he’s a responsible human being who loves his life. Who is totally true to himself.”
Three years ago, Delany told MORE that she thought she’d had enough adventures and was ready for marriage. Now, however, she says that “I think I was still reacting to the outside world and society.” Part of being true to herself is knowing that “I feel so fulfilled in my life, and I’m so content being by myself that if [marriage] were to happen, that would be great, but it’s not a priority.”
That doesn’t mean she’s given up on men. In fact, Delany talks candidly about why she’s enjoying sex more than ever. “Here’s the difference after 50: Your hormones change,” she says. “So much of our lives is driven by hormones – sexual, procreative hormones. Believe me, I’m still very sexual, but I’m sexual in a much more energetic, spiritual sense, which is deeper and more fun. . . . I had times with people where it was ego-driven or where you just wanted to have an orgasm. It was like, ‘Let’s get to the endgame.’ ” But now, she adds, “great sex means it can go on for hours. . . you take a break. You eat something. You talk, you laugh, you hang out. It’s ongoing and it’s sexy, and your whole life can be like that. Of course, you end up having a lot of orgasms, which is a bonus.”
For more from this talented, independent and irrepressible star—including her amazing experience swimming with 400 dolphins—pick up the April issue of MORE, on newsstands March 23.
I can’t wait to get the magazine, but considering where I live eBay will be my best friend. Also the photo on the online article is STUNNING. I tell you, Dana doesn’t age, at all.
Although I confirmed this information over a week ago, ABC has finally released new press releases for the episodes so now it’s completely confirmed.

So in the past two days I’ve been working hard in the gallery, which can be translated as finishing adding events from 2009, an outtake from a photoshoot and Kidnapped’s promo posters. But if you wanna go by numbers, then the one you’re looking for is: 1161. Yes, that’s the number of photos I’ve added between yesterday and today as part of the third and final little birthday projects we had this year. The first was trying to make Dana a trending topic, which seems that didn’t happen in the end but we tried. The second opening our media site and this was the third one. So we hope you had/have fun and enjoy!
